About Spetses
Spetses is the most elegant island in the Saronic Gulf — a pine-forested paradise with neoclassical mansions, horse-drawn carriages, and a rich naval history. The island played a heroic role in the Greek War of Independence, and its most famous daughter, Laskarina Bouboulina, was one of the first female naval commanders in history. The old harbour is lined with grand mansions, boutique hotels, and excellent restaurants. Pine forests cover much of the island, and the coastline offers beautiful pebble beaches and secluded coves.
