Kefalonia

The majestic giant of the Ionian

About Kefalonia

Kefalonia is the largest Ionian island and arguably the most dramatic — a mountainous, forested island with some of Greece's most spectacular natural wonders. Myrtos Beach, with its sheer white cliffs and vivid blue water, is one of the most photographed beaches in the world. The underground lake of Melissani, where sunlight streams through a collapsed cave roof to illuminate turquoise water, is genuinely magical. The island gained international fame through Louis de Bernières' novel 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin', and its charming harbour towns of Fiskardo and Assos remain as beautiful as the book describes.
