Alonissos

The marine park island

About Alonissos

Alonissos is the most remote and unspoiled of the Sporades islands, and the gateway to the National Marine Park of the Northern Sporades — the largest marine protected area in Europe. The park protects the endangered Mediterranean monk seal, along with dolphins, rare seabirds, and pristine marine ecosystems. The old village (Chora), perched on a hilltop with panoramic views, was rebuilt after a 1965 earthquake and has become an artists' colony with stone houses, studios, and excellent tavernas. For yacht charter guests, Alonissos offers the most pristine sailing waters in Greece and the chance to encounter monk seals and dolphins in their natural habitat.
