Donousa, an island in Aegean Sea where peace is offered in a enormous amount. In high season the island can be swamped by holiday making Greeks but out of season be prepared to linger quietly.
The main settlement and port of Donousa is Agios Stavros, which hasn’t change over the years at all. Whitewashed buildings and a graphical church with a view of a small sandy bay is how Agios Stavros looks like.
Kendros is a sandy and secluded beach which is located about 1.25 kilometres to the southeast of Agios Stavros.
Another beach in Donousa which sees even fewer visitors is Livadi, about 1 kilometre hike further east.
Naturists are the main visitors in Livadi and Kendros. Bulldozed, unsurfaced roads have marred Donousa in places, but there are still paths and tracks that lead into the hills to timeless little hamlets such as Mersini.
Donousa is an island in Greece and part of the municipality Naxos and Lesser Cyclades. Donousa located 15 miles east of Naxos island, about 19 miles north of Amorgos island.
The specific geographical coordinates are 37°06’06.3″N 25°49’05.4″E in Aegean Sea.
