A few kilometres off the west coast of Aegina stands Agistri, a tiny island, obscure enough to be overlooked by most island-hoppers. Agistri lies on Saronic Gulf on Aegean Sea. The gulf includes also the islands of  Salamina, Poros, Spetses, Hydra along with smaller islands of Patroklos and Fleves. The Athen’s port of Piraeus lies on the northeastern edge of the gulf.

There’s a small, not terribly attractive strip of development on the north coast but the rest of the island is pine-covered, timeless and beautiful – albeit with very few beaches. Tiny Agistri lies a few kilometres off the west coast of Aegina and out of high season makes a rewarding day trip or a worthwhile longer escape. There are three main settlements on Agistri island, Milos, Skala and Limenaria from which the main village is Milos and here are gathered most of the population of the island.

The total population is about 1200 inhabitants and the total area is 14 square kilometres. The exact geographical coordinates of Agistri in Greece are 37°41’44.9″N 23°20’59.1″E in Aegean Sea.
